Ten-year-old Rita, who is bravely fighting cancer, had the opportunity to collaborate with Disney’s renowned costume designers. Her dream was to create her very own royal gown, and Disney made sure this wish came true in spectacular fashion.

Rita participated in a personalized design session where she explored Disney’s exclusive costuming facility and fabric library. She marveled at the intricate processes involved in crafting costumes for the park’s beloved characters. “It was amazing to see how everything comes together,” Rita shared, expressing her excitement about the behind-the-scenes tour. The highlight of her visit was designing a dress inspired by Cinderella, which was officially named “Rita’s Rose Diamond Dress.” She chose every detail, from the colors to the sparkles, ensuring it reflected her unique vision.

The experience coincided with the 75th anniversary of the classic film, adding an extra layer of magic to Rita’s day. To her delight, the Disney team surprised her with a miniature replica of the gown, crafted to scale as a keepsake. For Allison Atmore, a Costume Specialist at Disney Live Entertainment, fulfilling Rita’s wish held special significance. “Having been through similar experiences myself, I understand the impact this can have on a child’s life,” she said. Over the past 45 years, Disney has partnered with Make-A-Wish, becoming the foundation’s largest wish granter, creating countless joyful moments for families facing challenging circumstances.
