Christmas bells are set to ring next Thursday, December 12th, at the Milwaukee Public Market. Local Celebrities Unite for a Good Cause

A host of local celebrities, including Spectrum News 1 meteorologist Brooke Brighton and morning news anchor Megan Carpenter, will be ringing bells. This is their fourth year participating, and they will be outside the public market from 6 pm to 7 pm on December 12th, taking donations in person. The Impact of the Red Kettle Campaign

The annual Red Kettle Campaign is crucial as it helps raise funds for dozens of programs and services in Milwaukee County. Last year, Wisconsin celebrities raised $6,859.48, and this year, officials hope to reach $3.5 million. The money raised will directly support local initiatives and make a positive difference in people's lives.

More Celebrities Join the Fun

In addition to Brooke Brighton and Megan Carpenter, other celebrities will be participating. The Milwaukee Fire Department Chief Aaron Lipski, Greg Borowski from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Bernie Brewer and the Racing Sausages, a digital creator from Discover Milwaukee, and the digital creator of @MKEeeeEats on Instagram are all part of this year's event. Celebrity bell ringing first started in 2013, and the Salvation Army added the friendly competition component in 2014. Celebrities who raise the most money receive a traveling trophy and recognition at the Salvation Army's volunteer luncheon.In 2022, Brighton and Carpenter placed third, and in 2021, they were in second. Brighton expressed her determination in an Instagram post ahead of the event, saying, "Let’s change it to first this year."The Milwaukee Public Market Celebrity Bell Ringing Day will run from 11 am until 7 pm on December 12, 2024, giving everyone an opportunity to contribute and be a part of this meaningful holiday tradition.
