Kingdom Come Ministries to Open Lubbock Church for Kids in 2025

In Lubbock, Texas, a remarkable ministry is making waves. Executive Director Leslie Roach emphasizes that "Kingdom Come Ministries exists to transform families and resurrect communities by making Jesus name famous." In December 2014, Roach and Kristin Montgomery took a bold step, leaving their jobs to start this ministry. It initially began as a mobile ministry bus for kids. As Roach recalls, "We had a couple busses where we stripped all the seats out. We'd take them around to schools and parks and do church on our bus."

The Road Ahead Amidst Challenges

For over five years, the ministry was on the road, reaching local areas like Stubbs Park. However, the arrival of COVID-19 brought significant changes. Roach shares, "Kids were stuck inside after COVID, still on their phones and doing video games and all the things that our lives shifted to. So, we started dreaming with God again about what it would look like to shift things around." This led to the birth of the idea of Champion Church for Kids, which aims to be Lubbock's only church exclusively for children aged 5 to 11.

The Value of Children

Roach firmly believes in putting the value back on children. She passionately states, "I really think God has an immense love for them and they're really undervalued, just in the world in general. We want them to be able to stand firm and solid in their faith." This vision drives the ministry's efforts.

The Road to Opening

The ministry is looking forward to opening its church for kids in Spring 2025. Services will be held every Thursday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., allowing parents the option to drop off their kids or enjoy the service together. There is still work to be done to reach the goal, and that's where the community's help is needed. From now until Friday, any donation up to $30,000 will be matched as part of Giving Tuesday. You can find the link to donate here.

The Impact on the Community

With a goal of $100,000 overall, Kingdom Come Ministries hopes to have a positive impact on the Lubbock community. Roach explains, "When children are changed, they go back and change their families. And then once families are changed, then whole communities can be resurrected." This ministry is dedicated to bringing about this transformation.
