Keiser University's men's basketball team has announced the addition of Payton Hulsey as the new assistant coach, joining Head Coach Marcus "Chief" Bryant on the sidelines. Hulsey, a seasoned basketball professional with a diverse coaching background, is poised to contribute to the Seahawks' continued success and championship aspirations.

Seasoned Coaching Veteran Brings Wealth of Experience

Prior to his appointment at Keiser, Payton Hulsey spent two successful years as an assistant coach and head JV coach at Campbellsville University. During his tenure, the Tigers amassed an impressive 29 wins and an 18-11 record on their home court. Before his stint at Campbellsville, Hulsey honed his coaching skills at his alma mater, Southwind High School, where he helped guide the Jaguars to the 2013 Tennessee Class AAA State Championship.Hulsey's coaching experience extends beyond the collegiate and high school levels. In 2018, he traveled to Ürümqi, Xinjiang, China, where he served as a personal basketball trainer for the Xinjiang Tigers during the Chinese Basketball Association's 2019-2020 season. In this role, he had the opportunity to work with NBA G-League Champion Jarnell Stokes and NBA Champion Ian Clark, further expanding his expertise and network within the basketball community.

Proven Player and Defensive Specialist

Hulsey's coaching prowess is complemented by his own impressive playing career. He spent his final year of college basketball with the College of Charleston Cougars, where he made 30 starts in 31 games. During his time with the Cougars, Hulsey led the team in steals and was named to the 2016 Coastal Athletics Association All-Defensive Team, showcasing his defensive prowess.Prior to his stint at the College of Charleston, Hulsey played for Eastern Florida State College and Western Kentucky, further honing his skills and experience as a player. His basketball journey culminated in a successful high school career, where he helped the Southwind Jaguars capture the 2013 Tennessee Class AAA State Championship. Hulsey's accolades include being named to the 2011-12 "Best of Preps" Class AAA Boys Team by the Memphis Commercial-Appeal.
