The county has issued bids to secure unit pricing for a wide range of services, including preventative maintenance, automotive system diagnosis, and up-fitting services. This comprehensive approach will ensure that the county's fleet of over 900 vehicles receives timely, affordable, and predictable maintenance and repair services.The preventative maintenance services covered under the new contract include fluid and filter changes, tire repair and rotation, and brake pad replacement. The automotive system diagnosis component encompasses the assessment and repair of lighting and electrical systems, fuel systems, cooling systems, and drivetrain components. Additionally, the up-fitting services will address the installation of emergency lighting, sirens, prisoner/canine containment systems, and two-way radio systems.

This new contract is the result of a collaborative effort between various Guilford County departments, including the Fleet Operations Department, the Sheriff's Office, Emergency Services, Risk Management, and the Transportation Department. By pooling their resources and expertise, these departments have developed a comprehensive solution that will benefit the entire county fleet.The initial three-year contract is valued at $1,995,000, with the potential for two additional one-year renewal options, which could extend the contract to 2029 and bring the total cost to $3,345,000.
