The Jefferson County Christian School (JCCS) has embarked on an ambitious initiative to combat hunger and support its community. Students from all grades are set to participate in a packing event on February 28, where they will assemble 10,000 meals for individuals facing food insecurity both locally and internationally. This event is part of a larger fundraising effort aimed at raising $75,000 to fund various improvements at the school.

JCCS has a history of engaging in impactful community service projects. Last year, the school successfully raised nearly $60,000 through its first Feed the Need campaign, which resulted in the packaging of 10,000 meals. A significant portion of these meals were sent to Haiti, while others supported local organizations like Urban Mission Ministries Inc. The funds also enabled the school to renovate its science room and kitchen, allowing it to serve hot meals to students.

This year's campaign not only aims to provide essential aid but also seeks to instill valuable life lessons in students. Business manager Kathy Martin emphasized that this type of fundraiser teaches children the importance of giving back. The event itself promises to be lively and engaging, with music playing and milestones celebrated over loudspeakers, creating an atmosphere of unity and excitement.

Beyond addressing immediate needs, the funds raised will contribute to critical upgrades at JCCS, including replacing flooring, enhancing technology, and updating classroom furniture. Principal Scott Abercrombie highlighted that the Feed the Need Packing Party exemplifies the school's mission to nurture both academic excellence and compassionate service. Through this initiative, JCCS continues to inspire its students to make a meaningful difference in the world, fostering a spirit of generosity and community responsibility.
