Jaguar's Electric EV Leaks Before Official Miami Reveal

The Jaguar brand found itself in a precarious situation after the uproar surrounding its new branding campaign. The last thing they wanted was an unauthorized early unveiling of the highly anticipated new electric vehicle (EV), which they believe will clarify all the commotion. Given the intense interest in Jaguar's upcoming reveal today, it was perhaps fated that images would emerge before the official covers came off during Miami Art Week.

Unveiling Jaguar's Electric Future

Concept Design and Proportions

Online forum Coche Spias has shared images providing a sneak peek at the electric GT car. Judging from these pictures, the vehicle appears to be both large and wide, even within its class. This concept showcases a design that combines bright pink and a more subdued blue, giving a preview of Jaguar's upcoming three EVs. The first of these, a luxury saloon set to arrive next year, will likely bear a strong resemblance to this concept, especially in terms of exterior proportions. The cab-rear stance with a long bonnet defies the design language of many electric cars. In traditional EVs, the power architecture eliminates the need for a large internal combustion engine upfront. Jaguar is clearly making a distinct design statement with this vehicle.

Unique Design Features

Jaguar has emphasized its ambition for its cars to be "a copy of nothing." Many aspects of this concept, such as the invisible A-pillars, squared front end, and rounded rear, seem to fulfill this promise. The slatted roof stands out for its individuality. However, the absence of a rear windscreen will likely require a camera system, similar to what Polestar 4 already incorporated last year. The wide, slatted front grille is a common feature among many EVs and is mirrored at the rear, where the slats likely conceal the tail lights.

Performance and Pricing

Just how much of this design will make it to Jaguar's upcoming four-door electric GT, due in 2026, remains uncertain. But it has been announced that this EV will produce 575 bhp and have a range of over 430 miles, priced north of £100,000 ($127,000), positioning the brand back in the realm of proper luxury autos. This showcases Jaguar's commitment to delivering high-performance and luxurious electric vehicles.
