iHeartMedia has recently launched a significant redesign of its mobile app, marking the first major overhaul since its 2011 debut. This transformation might just lead you to abandon your car's radio controls. The new interface draws inspiration directly from the most beloved car radio features, such as station presets, a scan button, and even a live radio "dial." Additionally, it includes a unique lyrics display for live radio, a first for digital radio apps according to iHeartRadio.

Bringing the Best of Both Worlds

iHeartMedia's chairman and CEO, Bob Pittman, emphasized in a press release that their listeners have made it clear they desire a streaming audio platform that is intuitive and familiar, combining the simplicity of the car radio with the full capabilities of streaming technology. The redesigned iHeartRadio app achieves just that.

Enhanced Home Screen Features

The new design retains the core elements while adding several exciting new features to the top of the home screen. Presets allow you to save up to 15 of your favorite radio stations, playlists, podcasts, and artist radio stations, just like in a car radio. The scan button enables you to quickly sample nationwide radio stations or filter by city or genre. The live radio dial lets you swipe left or right to find and access national radio stations organized by genre and location. You can also see what's trending among fellow iHeartRadio listeners across top podcasts, playlists, and artist radio stations. It highlights features that are currently popular on the streaming service. Moreover, the lyrics feature shows the lyrics for the song you are listening to on live radio, and there's a karaoke-style display for tracks on artist radio and playlists.

The iHeartRadio app has amassed an impressive user base of over 167 million registered users and is available on over 500 platforms and 2,000 different connected devices. It has been downloaded a staggering 3 billion times, demonstrating its widespread popularity and significance in the digital audio landscape.

This redesign not only offers a more intuitive and familiar user experience but also showcases iHeartMedia's commitment to innovation and meeting the evolving needs of its listeners. With these new features, the app is set to become an even more essential tool for music and audio enthusiasts.
