The Indiana Horse Racing Commission (IHRC) has approved an exciting 123-day live racing schedule for the 2025 season at Horseshoe Indianapolis. This announcement comes after the commission's regular meeting at the track on Thursday, October 24th. The upcoming season will feature a mix of Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing, mirroring the successful 2024 schedule, with six dates dedicated exclusively to Quarter Horses.

A Comprehensive Racing Calendar

The 2025 racing season at Horseshoe Indianapolis will commence on Tuesday, April 15th and run through Thursday, November 13th. With first post set for 2:10 p.m. ET, Monday through Thursday, the track is poised to deliver a thrilling and diverse racing experience for fans. The schedule includes several marquee events, such as the GIII Indiana Derby and GIII Indiana Oaks, which are scheduled for Saturday, July 5th with a special 12 p.m. start time. Additionally, the sixth annual Indiana Champions Day will kick off at the noon hour on Saturday, October 25th.

Embracing Holiday Traditions

Horseshoe Indianapolis has also made provisions for live racing on several notable holidays. Memorial Day Monday, May 26th, and Independence Day on July 4th, will both feature live programs beginning at 12 p.m. The track will also conduct live racing on Kentucky Derby day, May 3rd, and Belmont Stakes day, June 7th, with both of these cards starting at 10:45 a.m.

"Our racing program has grown over the past few years, and we feel we have a good schedule in place, so we didn't want to make too many changes," said Eric Halstrom, Vice President and General Manager of Racing. "We worked closely with the horsemen's groups to review our current schedule before presenting it to IHRC. We feel this schedule maximizes our racing product to all types of racing fans. We will still offer seven Saturday racing programs in addition to six all-Quarter Horse racing days, providing some weekend racing opportunities for our local customers again in 2025."
