On a memorable Senior Day, Emporia State's women’s tennis team achieved a remarkable victory, setting the stage for their upcoming tournament. The Hornets showcased their prowess by defeating Northeastern State with a commanding score of 6-1 at the Kossover Family Tennis Center. This triumph not only secured their position as the fifth seed in the MIAA Women’s Tennis Tournament but also marked their first winning record in conference play since 2014. Through strategic doubles victories and resilient singles performances, the team demonstrated both teamwork and individual talent.

The match began with strong showings in the doubles category, where Emporia State quickly gained an advantage. Partnerships proved crucial, as Lilie Bizouerne and Perla Conde dominated their opponents with a decisive 6-2 win at the second spot. Similarly, Anastasia Pesic and Sheriden Wichman contributed significantly with a 6-3 victory at the third doubles position. Although the first doubles match was halted to expedite the singles portion due to potential weather conditions, Paige Stranghoner and Andrea Santiago had already established a promising lead. In singles play, the Hornets maintained their momentum, with standout performances from players like Stranghoner and Pesic securing early points.

Inspirational comebacks highlighted the latter stages of the match, reinforcing the team's determination. Despite conceding one point to Northeastern State through Adel Ismagulova's triumph over Giovanna Ferreira, Emporia State persevered. Lilie Bizouerne sealed the overall win with a composed performance at the fourth singles slot. Additionally, Yuliya Klimova and Perla Conde exhibited grit by overcoming initial setbacks in their respective matches, ultimately prevailing in thrilling three-set encounters. As the Hornets prepare for the MIAA Tournament in Springfield, Missouri, their journey exemplifies how dedication and resilience can transform challenges into opportunities for success.
