HONOR has introduced the HONOR Power, a smartphone equipped with an extraordinary 8,000mAh silicon-carbon battery. This cutting-edge technology allows for higher energy density compared to traditional lithium batteries, enabling manufacturers to create devices with either larger capacities or slimmer profiles. The HONOR Power leans towards maximizing capacity while maintaining a sleek design at just 7.98mm thick. Supporting 66W wired charging, it offers a full charge in approximately 68 minutes. Despite its impressive battery, the device is budget-friendly, featuring a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, a 6.78-inch OLED display, and modest camera capabilities.

Marking a significant advancement in mobile technology, the HONOR Power's silicon-carbon battery represents a leap forward from conventional lithium-ion options. Two years ago, the first smartphones with this type of battery emerged, and since then, many Android manufacturers have adopted the technology. With twice the capacity of the Galaxy S25 and outstripping the OnePlus 13's 6,000mAh battery, the HONOR Power boasts a battery even larger than that of the iPad Air. Yet, despite its massive power reserve, the phone remains relatively lightweight at 209 grams.

The adoption of silicon-carbon batteries allows companies to explore new possibilities in smartphone design. By enhancing energy density, these batteries enable either increased capacity within existing form factors or similar capacity in more compact and sleeker designs. HONOR clearly prioritizes the former, aiming to deliver extended usage time without compromising on aesthetics. Additionally, the phone supports rapid 66W wired charging, which can fully recharge the device in around 68 minutes. Although this benchmark was achieved starting from 3% rather than zero charge, it still surpasses the charging speeds of several Samsung and Google models.

Beyond its remarkable battery, the HONOR Power is essentially a budget-oriented device. It features a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, a 6.78-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 1.5K, offering smooth visuals at 120Hz refresh rate and PWM dimming for eye comfort. The imaging system consists of a dual-camera setup with a primary 50MP sensor and a 5MP ultra-wide lens, complemented by a 16MP front-facing camera for selfies. Design-wise, the phone incorporates a center-mounted pill-shaped cutout reminiscent of the iPhone and the HONOR Magic 7 Pro, alongside hints of water resistance, though specifics on the IP rating remain undisclosed.

Priced affordably, the base model of the HONOR Power comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage at a recommended retail price of 1,999 yuan (~$272), reduced to 1,699.15 yuan (~$231) during promotions. Meanwhile, the top-tier variant with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage lists at 2,499 yuan (~$340), discounted to 2,124.15 yuan (~$289). While global availability details are yet to be confirmed, concerns linger about potential battery downgrades for international markets. Nonetheless, HONOR assures updates will be shared as developments unfold.
