Navigating the Trails with Precision and Perseverance
The Summit Seeker Adventure Race was a true test of the participants' navigation skills, as they were tasked with using clues, maps, cell phones, and compasses to locate carefully hidden checkpoints scattered throughout the Canmore Nordic Centre. With a vast network of trails to explore, the teams had to make strategic decisions on which checkpoints to pursue, balancing the potential points with the time and distance required to reach them. For Jordan Koroll and Alexander Rivett, the dynamic duo known as the "Super Smash Brothers," this challenge was an opportunity to push their limits and embrace the thrill of the unknown. "There was a constant discussion along the trail to be like 'Hey, do we have enough time to get that 50 points or that 60 points that's super far away or do we stay closer and get the two 20 points?'" said Koroll, highlighting the intricate decision-making process that unfolded during the race.Despite facing some Bowser-sized obstacles in locating a few checkpoints, the pair's unwavering teamwork and determination proved to be the key to their success. "We didn't have a single fight the whole time, did we?" Rivett remarked with a laugh, underscoring the importance of communication and camaraderie in the world of adventure racing.Embracing the Unexpected: Costumes and Last-Minute Preparations
