An inspiring act of generosity has taken place in the Grand Traverse and Leelanau County area, as the 100+ Women Who Care organization recently bestowed a $10,000 grant to Hoop’s Pet Food Pantry. This significant contribution aims to support pet owners in maintaining the well-being of their cherished companions. The funds will primarily be utilized for essential food supplies, ensuring that no pet goes without nourishment.
Hoop’s Pet Food Pantry, an all-volunteer operation now in its fifth year, plays a crucial role in the community by providing monthly assistance to approximately 500 pets. Their services extend to various animals, including cats, dogs, rabbits, birds, horses, guinea pigs, and more. Operated from the Square Deal Country Store parking lot, they distribute donations on specific Saturdays throughout the month. With no eligibility criteria, this initiative strives to make a difference in every pet owner's life. Furthermore, the recent donation will help launch Charlotte’s Web, an innovative project aimed at enhancing the quality of life for elderly pets through specialized aids and dietary supplements.
Since its inception in December 2011, the 100+ Women Who Care group has consistently demonstrated the power of collective giving. By hosting quarterly gatherings and awarding grants exceeding $10,000, they have educated their members about numerous local nonprofit organizations while contributing over half a million dollars to date. Such endeavors not only foster a sense of community but also exemplify how collaborative efforts can create lasting positive change for both people and animals alike.
