North Carolina Central University's (NCCU) men's basketball team has unveiled an electrifying 2024-25 HBCU basketball schedule, featuring a diverse lineup of 31 games, including 17 non-conference matchups and 14 home games at the iconic McDougald-McLendon Arena. This season promises to be a thrilling showcase of the Eagles' prowess and the rich tradition of HBCU basketball.

Soaring into the Season: NCCU vs. George Mason

The Eagles will kick off their highly anticipated season with a road clash against George Mason University on Monday, November 4th. This matchup, set for a 7 p.m. start time in Fairfax, Virginia, will be streamed live on ESPN+. The last time these two teams met was in 2018, with the Patriots emerging victorious over NCCU.As the Eagles prepare to take on the Big South Conference, they will face off against Gardner-Webb University and High Point University on November 12th. NCCU will also have a home-and-home series with Gardner-Webb, playing on November 8th and December 7th.

Thanksgiving Showdown: NCCU at the Rock Hill Classic

Ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday, the Eagles will showcase their talents at the prestigious Rock Hill Classic, hosted by Winthrop University from November 15th to 17th. This star-studded event will feature the College of William & Mary and Georgia Southern University, setting the stage for an intense and captivating tournament.Following the Rock Hill Classic, the Eagles will travel to Atlanta to take on Georgia State University on November 22nd, before returning home to host Carolina University on November 25th and Virginia University of Lynchburg on November 30th.

Battling the Mountaineers and Lancers

As the calendar turns to December, the Eagles will host Radford University on December 5th, before embarking on a three-game road stretch. This challenging slate includes a matchup against West Virginia University on December 10th and a home-and-home series with Longwood University, with the first game on December 14th and the second on December 20th.

Familiar Foes and Rivalry Renewed

The Eagles will welcome two familiar opponents to Durham, as Mid-Atlantic Christian University (December 17th) and St. Andrews University (December 31st) make their way to McDougald-McLendon Arena. These teams faced off against NCCU last season, setting the stage for another thrilling encounter.The Maroon & Gray will also renew their HBCU basketball rivalry with North Carolina A&T State University on December 28th, as part of the inaugural CBS Sports Classic: HBCU Showcase, which will be aired on CBS and Paramount+ at 2 p.m.

Conquering the MEAC: NCCU's Conference Campaign

As the new year dawns, the Eagles will open their MEAC regular season on the road, facing Coppin State University on January 4th and Morgan State University on January 6th. The home conference schedule includes matchups against the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (January 11th), Delaware State University (January 13th), South Carolina State University (January 25th), Coppin State (February 15th), Morgan State (February 17th), Howard University (March 1st), and Norfolk State University (March 3rd).The 2025 MEAC Basketball Tournament will take place in Norfolk, Virginia, from March 12th to 15th, at the Norfolk Scope Arena. All eight schools will automatically qualify to compete for the coveted conference tournament championship.
