Playing at home for the first time since the season opener on Nov. 4, the Crimson showcased their skills with a dominant performance. First-year guard Robert Hinton led the way with a game-high 18 points and a career-best nine rebounds. Sophomore forward Thomas Batties II scored 17 points, and junior guard Chandler Piggé posted 16 points and a game-high nine rebounds. This victory marked an important step in the team's season.
Hinton's performance was particularly impressive, earning him Ivy League Rookie of the Week for the second time in the season's first three weeks. He tallied 18 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and two steals, shooting 8-of-13 from the field. His impact was felt throughout the game, and he continues to be a key contributor for the team.
Robert Hinton has been a force to be reckoned with this season. He has averaged 17.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game, shooting 48.8 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from 3-point distance. In the NCAA, he ranks fifth among first-years in points per game. His debut was a standout, scoring 27 points on 9-of-12 field goals and 8-of-10 free throws. He followed that up with 26 points and eight boards at Navy and 19 points at American before totaling 18 points, nine rebounds, and five assists in the win over Colgate.
Chandler Piggé has also been a consistent performer, averaging 13.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game on the year. He shoots 53.4 percent from the field and has steadily increased his production over the years. He has scored in double figures in five straight games and notched 16 points and nine rebounds vs. Colgate after scoring 17 points with six rebounds at Northeastern and 16 points and eight rebounds at Navy.
Thomas Batties II has averaged 9.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per game, shooting 40.0 percent from 3-point distance. He ranks second in the Ivy League and 39th in the NCAA in blocks per game. His performance against Colgate was a career-high 17 points, along with five 3-pointers and four blocks.
Evan Nelson has contributed 8.0 points and 1.8 assists per game, shooting 39.1 percent from 3-point distance. He netted 15 points at American and 11 points at Colorado after returning from injury. Senior guard Louis Lesmond made his season debut vs. Colgate, contributing five points, four rebounds, and four assists. He averaged 9.8 points and 3.0 rebounds per game last season.
Tey Barbour has notched 6.5 points and 2.8 rebounds per game, netting 11 points and hitting 3-of-6 3-pointers vs. Colgate and scoring 10 points at Colorado for his first collegiate game in double figures.
Dutch Dowdell has netted 4.8 points per game and scored 10 points in each of two games – at Northeastern and at Colorado.
Ben Eisendrath has dished out 2.2 assists per game and distributed a career-high five assists at Northeastern.
Luca Ace-Nasteski has chipped in 3.6 points and 2.6 rebounds per game, netting nine points on 4-of-6 shooting against Marist and compiling 2.2 points and 3.1 rebounds per game a season ago.
Harvard trails UMass in the all-time series, 12-18. However, the Crimson has won three straight against the Minutemen from 2017-18 to 2019-20 before UMass captured the next two meetings, including a narrow 71-68 decision at Lavietes Pavilion in 2022-23. Last season, Harvard pulled out a 78-75 victory in overtime.
Harvard plays at Big East member St. John’s on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 5:00 p.m. (Peacock). This will be another challenging matchup for the team, and fans are eager to see how they will perform on the road.
