Alex McEachin, a 30-year-old designer based in New York's Chelsea neighborhood, has carved out her niche in the fashion world with her brand Accorda. Inspired by movie costumes and an education at Parsons School of Design, McEachin transitioned from costume design aspirations to product development at Proenza Schouler. Her seven-year stint there provided invaluable experience that she now channels into her own line. Launched in February, Accorda embodies a unique blend of artistic flair and practical wearability, named after an Italian word signifying harmony.

Born in Richmond, Virginia, McEachin’s passion for fashion was ignited by iconic film costumes and '90s cinematic ensembles. Initially drawn to costume design, she soon realized her true interest lay in original creation rather than interpretation. This led her to New York City and eventually to Proenza Schouler, where she honed her skills as a bridge between designers and producers. Now, McEachin is applying this expertise to her eponymous brand, which balances contrasting aesthetics seamlessly.

The essence of Accorda lies in its ability to harmonize different styles. Slim-cut dresses and tailored jumpsuits are enhanced with dramatic elements such as wavy collars and pleated side seams.
