In a world where our vehicles are an integral part of our daily lives, it's crucial to understand the inner workings and maintenance requirements of these machines. The U of A System Division of Agriculture Cooperative Extension Service has teamed up with local mechanics to offer a series of workshops that aim to demystify the complexities of car care, empowering drivers with the knowledge and skills to keep their vehicles running smoothly and efficiently.

Discover the Hidden Potential of Your Automobile

Mastering the Fundamentals of Car Maintenance

Participants in these workshops will delve into the essential aspects of car maintenance, covering a range of topics that will equip them with the necessary knowledge to take better care of their vehicles. From understanding common maintenance tasks and schedules to identifying potential auto failures and their associated costs, attendees will gain a comprehensive understanding of what lies beneath the hood.Through hands-on demonstrations and interactive sessions, the workshops will explore the various fluids, filters, and belts that are crucial to the proper functioning of a vehicle. Attendees will also learn about the importance of auto safety essentials, such as checking tire pressure and changing a flat tire, empowering them to handle minor issues with confidence.

Connecting Car Care to Environmental Stewardship

Beyond the practical aspects of vehicle maintenance, the workshops will also shed light on the impact that our cars have on the environment, particularly on the quality of local waterways. Participants will discover how tire tread, oil leaks, and other automotive fluids can potentially pollute nearby streams and creeks through the storm drain system.By understanding this connection, attendees will gain a deeper appreciation for the importance of routine maintenance and the adoption of eco-friendly practices. The workshops will provide valuable insights on how simple DIY car care techniques, such as checking fluids and monitoring tire pressure, can contribute to minimizing the environmental footprint of their vehicles.

Incentives and Rewards for Engaged Participants

To further incentivize participation, the workshops offer a range of valuable perks and rewards. Attendees will receive a $20 coupon for their next oil change, a voucher for a free diagnostic screening for potential leaks, and a free tire gauge. Additionally, they will be entered into a drawing to win one of five free oil changes, providing an added incentive to put their newfound knowledge into practice.
