Salvation Army and Trane Technologies Partner to Tackle Food Insecurity in La Crosse

The Salvation Army of La Crosse County has joined forces with Trane Technologies, a leading global climate innovator, to launch a Stuff the Truck food drive in the community. This collaborative effort aims to address the pressing issue of food insecurity and provide much-needed support to those in need.

Empowering the Community Through Compassionate Partnerships

Shared Vision, Shared Impact

The Salvation Army of La Crosse County and Trane Technologies have a long-standing partnership rooted in their shared commitment to serving the local community. As Michael Quam, the director of development for the Salvation Army, explains, "We share a community. We're both community leaders. We both help out in different ways." Trane's position as a major employer in the area and the Salvation Army's role in providing a "hand up, not a hand out" to those in need have fostered a natural alliance between the two organizations.

Addressing the Urgent Need for Food Assistance

The Stuff the Truck food drive is a timely initiative, as the Salvation Army of La Crosse County is currently serving a significant number of individuals in need. Quam notes that in addition to the 64 individuals residing in the organization's emergency shelter, they also provide lunch to an average of 140 community members seven days a week. "Between the needs of the shelter and the needs of the community, non-perishable food items, perishable food items, and hygiene products are always in need," he emphasizes, underscoring the vital importance of this collaborative effort.

Empowering Employees to Make a Difference

Trane Technologies is taking an active role in the Stuff the Truck food drive, with some of their employees volunteering their time and efforts to support the initiative. As part of the company's global days of service program, employees are granted a paid day off to volunteer in the community. Miranda Eisermann, the talent development team leader at Trane Technologies, explains, "We have a lot of employees that actually volunteer at The Salvation Army, so they agreed to do a stuff the truck event. It's just a great partnership with various folks."

Building a Stronger, More Resilient Community

The Salvation Army and Trane Technologies are committed to continuing their collaborative efforts to support the La Crosse community. Quam expresses optimism about the future, stating, "Every year it's a little bit better, and every year it's a little bit stronger. We look forward to not only the rest of this year, but also into the future." This partnership exemplifies the power of organizations coming together to address pressing social issues and create lasting positive change.
