The Fordham University men’s tennis team has achieved a significant milestone by securing the number four seed for the 2025 Atlantic 10 Championships. Set to take place at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida, from April 23-26, this marks the highest seed ever attained by the Rams in the championship's history. The team will begin their campaign on Thursday, April 24, against Davidson College, seeded fifth. With an impressive regular season record of 9-8, highlighted by six wins in their last seven matches, Fordham is poised to make a strong showing under the leadership of standout players.

Among those leading the charge into the championship is freshman Filip Horak. Demonstrating exceptional skill and consistency, he boasts an impressive record of 14-4 overall and 11-2 in dual matches. Additionally, Horak has contributed nine doubles victories this season. Another key player is junior Dhillon Virdee-Oakley, who has accumulated 12 singles wins, primarily competing at first singles, along with 12 doubles triumphs. Freshman Will Lokier also adds depth to the team, maintaining an 11-6 singles record alongside ten doubles wins.

This achievement represents a remarkable turnaround for the Fordham Rams, surpassing their previous best seed of six in 2019. Their nine victories during the regular season are the most since that same year, signaling a resurgence of talent and determination within the program. The upcoming tournament offers a platform for these young athletes to showcase their abilities on a larger stage.

In preparation for the competition, the team will need to focus on strategic gameplay and adaptability against formidable opponents like Davidson. Their recent form suggests they are well-equipped to handle the challenges ahead, aiming not only to uphold their historic seed but also to push further into the championship rounds.

The Fordham men’s tennis squad enters the Atlantic 10 Championships as one of the top contenders, buoyed by their achievements over the regular season. Backed by strong performances from freshmen and seasoned veterans alike, they stand ready to make history once again in Orlando. Fans eagerly anticipate how far this talented group can advance, bringing pride and recognition to Fordham University on the national collegiate sports scene.
