Ferrari has made a significant announcement regarding the launch of its 2025 Formula 1 car. Set to debut at the Fiorano test track in Maranello on February 19, this new vehicle is expected to bring about major changes. Team principal Fred Vasseur characterizes it as more than 99% new, with only less than 1% of the parts carrying over from this year. This move shows Ferrari's determination to push the boundaries and stay at the forefront of the sport.

Pre-Season Testing and Launch Details
While teams are working to minimize development efforts for 2025 to focus on the 2026 cars due to major regulations overhaul, Ferrari is taking a different approach. Vasseur confirmed the launch date and revealed that there will be a significant amount of evolutionary elements in the 2025 car. However, Ferrari is also aiming to be aggressive in its steps. When asked about the number of risks taken with the 2025 car, Vasseur said, "We'll know in [pre-season testing venue] Bahrain. Sometimes you don't feel that you are taking risks and you realise a bit later that was very risky. The car will be a completely new one. I think we have something less than 1% of the common parts that we will carry over. It’s a different project, but it’s true for everybody."Ferrari's Fiorano launch will follow the F1 season launch event at London's 02 Arena on 18th February. Drivers Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton will be present, along with Vasseur. However, what will be unveiled there will only be a show car in the 2025 livery. The real 2025 car will appear in a behind-closed-doors event at Fiorano the next day and will then be shipped to Bahrain for pre-season testing.Focus on Performance and Preparation
Vasseur stressed that Ferrari has no plans to make a big deal of Hamilton's first run in one of its cars. This will take place before the launch with both TPC running and a Pirelli tyre test. He wants Hamilton and Ferrari to be focused on the preparations for what he hopes will be a title-chasing season. "No, we have to be focused on the season," said Vasseur. "It will be a very tight period between the first day and launch, it’s a matter of weeks, and I want to have everybody focus on performance. We will have the launch of the championship, we will have the launch of the car. For me, it’s already two events, and it’s far too much. It’s far enough. I want to be focused on development performance and not to do the show."No Favourites in the Championship Fight
Vasseur isn't getting carried away with any favourite tags despite Ferrari's strong end to the 2024 season. "I don't care because you can be the favourite in January, February, [but] if you are not there on the first race everybody will forget this," Vasseur said. He believes that the fight between the top four teams is constantly changing from race to race, track to track, and compound to compound. "It means that every single parameter is making a huge difference. When you have four teams and it’s one or two tenths, the fact that we were in a good shape in November won’t impact the result of Melbourne 2025. We have to start from scratch. For sure, we have a reference, but it will be a new fight, a new championship and from January I will have a look on the future and Melbourne and not what we did two months before."
