Humboldt County Health and Human Services Environmental Health Officials stepped in, closing the lodge for a two-week period to address the issue. This came after several possible exposures and at least three confirmed cases of shigellosis linked to an event held at the lodge on August 28th.Pierre Carbonneau, a representative of the Eureka Elks Lodge, acknowledged the challenges faced, stating, "Some of the things that they addressed was the outbreak that infested the potential linkage of three to four cases, but have been unable to identify the source at this time. Humboldt Public Health has been aware of several confirmed, suspected cases linked to the community over the past three or four weeks."Despite the setback, the lodge worked diligently to meet the requirements set forth by the health officials, and they are now poised to reopen their doors by September 26th, just in time for the highly anticipated Veteran's Car Show on September 27th.Revving Up for the Veteran's Car Show
