As the holiday season approaches, Eastern Washington University (EWU) is rallying its community to support students, staff, and faculty in need. Empowering the EWU Community Through Charitable Giving

Donation Drives at Basketball Games

Eastern Washington University's men's and women's basketball teams are set to host a series of home games from November to December, and during these events, fans will have the chance to contribute to the EWU Food Pantry. Collection boxes will be placed at the main and student entrances of Reese Court, allowing attendees to drop off their donations. On non-game days, a dedicated donation bin will be available at the entrance of the Physical Education Building, making it convenient for the community to support the cause.

Addressing the Growing Demand for Food Assistance

The EWU Food Pantry, established in 2019, has become a vital resource for students, staff, and faculty in need of food and household supplies. In just the last month, the pantry has served over 1,600 individuals, providing them with canned goods, produce, snacks, cleaning supplies, and personal hygiene products. As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, the demand for specific items, such as cranberry sauce, candied yams, pumpkin, pie crusts, canned meats, and gravy, has increased significantly, with the overall need for donations doubling in October.

Incentivizing Charitable Contributions

To encourage fan participation, Eastern Athletics is offering a special incentive for those who donate to the EWU Food Pantry. Fans who contribute an item will receive a future "buy one, get one" (BOGO) ticket voucher, allowing them to attend future games at a discounted rate. This initiative aims to not only support the food pantry but also foster a sense of community and engagement among Eagle fans.

Joining the Eagle Athletic Fund

In addition to the food drive, Eastern Washington University Athletics encourages fans to consider joining the Eagle Athletic Fund (EAF). By contributing as little as $50 per year, supporters can enjoy exclusive perks, such as season ticket and tailgating priority, invitations to special events, and more. This membership not only benefits the university's athletic programs but also contributes to the overall well-being of the EWU community. As the holiday season approaches, the EWU community has the opportunity to come together and demonstrate the true spirit of giving.
