Don't Miss Filippo's Pizza & Italian Food in Mahomet for 33 Years

I've been experiencing a certain sense of despondency recently regarding the state of all our small businesses in the C-U area. In numerous cases, if they haven't already been compelled to shut down, they are grappling to keep their doors open. Thus, it truly brings a glimmer of warmth to my heart when I witness a small-town family flourishing in the restaurant business for an astonishing 33 years now. I am specifically referring to Filippo's Pizza and Italian Food in Mahomet. The fresh and lovingly prepared pizza, pasta, appetizers, sandwiches, and more might just be the secret behind their 33 years of success.

Honest Review with a Minor Disappointment

I must be completely forthright with you all when I disclose that it took a considerable three hours for our food to be delivered. I understand. This is one of the very few aspects that could be improved when it comes to Filippo's. But I assure you, every single moment spent waiting is worth it. Please don't harbor any doubts. Now that I've laid out this disclaimer, I can proceed with my delightful review. One Sunday night, I savored Filippo's at home with my family, and we indulged in some of our beloved dishes. Although alfredo sauce is an off-menu item, it is undoubtedly a must-try.

Tortellini Alfredo - A Family Favorite

In the past, I have ordered their traditional chicken fettucine alfredo. However, on this occasion, I decided to switch things up and ordered cheese tortellini with alfredo sauce, which cost $7.25. The tortellini were cooked to perfection, with a delightful al dente texture, and paired exceptionally well with the copious amount of cheesy and creamy sauce. As expected, this dish was quite filling, making it ideal for sharing among my family of four. Each pasta dish was accompanied by a side of fresh and crispy garlic bread, which was simply perfect for soaking up all that delicious alfredo.

Lasagna - A Customizable Delight

One of my absolute favorite dishes from Filippo's has to be their lasagna, which costs $10. It arrived piping hot, with the perfect amount of sauce and cheese. What I particularly love about Filippo's is that they can customize almost any dish according to the customer's preferences. No questions asked. Just like Sally from When Harry Met Sally, I enjoy the ability to customize my dishes to my liking. This lasagna was a true masterpiece.

The Famous Filippo's Pizza

As I've mentioned before, there are diverse opinions regarding Filippo's sweet pizza sauce. Some are staunchly loyal, while others may not be as enamored. But that's what makes the world go 'round, right? This time, we decided to be a bit adventurous with our toppings and created a sausage, mushroom, red onion, roasted red pepper, and fresh garlic pie, which cost $18.50. The combination of the crispy crust, fresh crunchy vegetables, and that delicious sweet sauce created a symphony of flavors in my mouth.

Unbaked Pizza Option - A Time-Saving Choice

Fun fact: Filippo's pizza can be ordered un-baked for pick-up or delivery. This is a highly convenient option for those who are in a hurry or need to take the pizza to a friend or family member's house. It once again showcases the small business's willingness and ability to support the customer in the best possible way.I know I keep emphasizing this, but it is crucial that we continue to support small businesses as often as possible. We take great pleasure in seeing local businesses and families thrive, especially during this busy holiday season.
