Developer Reaffirms Commitment to Splitgate: Arena Reloaded Amidst Declining Player Figures

1047 Games, the studio behind the first-person shooter Splitgate: Arena Reloaded, has publicly responded to concerns regarding the game's declining player base on Steam. The developer asserts that Steam's concurrent player statistics do not fully capture the game's overall performance or its vibrant community, reiterating its unwavering commitment to the title's continued improvement and expansion.

Following its December 2025 re-launch, Splitgate: Arena Reloaded saw a peak of just under 2,300 concurrent players on Steam, a number that has since fallen below 1,000. This drop prompted widespread online discussion and speculation about the game's future. In response, 1047 Games released a statement emphasizing that 'Steam Charts don't measure fun' and provide only a partial view of the game's engagement across all platforms.

The original Splitgate, first launched in 2019, experienced a surge in popularity during its 2021 open beta phase, attracting over 10 million players and securing significant funding. However, player engagement subsequently declined. A planned sequel, initially hyped as a 'revolutionary step forward,' launched with less fanfare and was eventually reverted to a beta state, leading to staff reductions and a re-branding as Splitgate: Arena Reloaded for its December 2025 re-release. Despite these efforts, the game's reception on Steam remained subdued.

While acknowledging that Steam numbers only reflect a segment of the player base, excluding PlayStation, Xbox, and Epic Games Store users, the developer's statement aims to reassure players of its dedication. They highlighted that the game underwent a complete rebuild over the last six months, signaling a strong belief in the product, its development team, and its community. The studio also teased future content, such as 'Arena Royale,' as part of its ongoing efforts to evolve the game.

The situation underscores the complexities of measuring game success solely through platform-specific metrics. Although Steam remains a dominant force in PC gaming, the developer believes that the broader ecosystem of consoles and other PC platforms contributes to a more comprehensive understanding of Splitgate: Arena Reloaded's performance. The studio is intent on delivering the best possible version of Splitgate, regardless of the challenges presented by player statistics on a single platform.
