Milan transforms into a vibrant hub of creativity during its spring extravaganza, where design week takes center stage. From April 7th to 13th, the city becomes a canvas for events, pop-ups, and installations that explore the intersection of nature and technology, as well as design and artificial intelligence. This year’s theme, "Connected Worlds," invites participants to delve into the dynamic relationship between these elements. Renowned brands like Aesop, Diptyque, Byredo, and others contribute unique experiences through immersive installations and product launches. The event draws students, creatives, tourists, and style enthusiasts who gather to discover the latest aesthetic trends and cool projects.
This year, Aesop introduces "The Second Skin," an installation housed within the Sacristy of the Church of Santa Maria del Carmine. This thoughtfully designed space merges architecture, culture, and sensory experience, marking the debut of their new body cleanser with a refreshing and hydrating formula. Visitors are invited to immerse themselves in a tranquil environment enriched by a contemporary dance film created in collaboration with dancer Nayoung Kim.
In another highlight, Diptyque unveils its latest boutique on Via Manzoni 25. Inspired by the brand's original Parisian location, this two-level space combines tradition with innovation, showcasing carefully selected decor and exclusive products such as the Milan City Candle. Each element is meticulously crafted to tell a story and provide customers with a unique shopping experience.
Meanwhile, Byredo collaborates with artist Bethan Wood to reimagine urban landscapes through vivid colors and tactile designs. Their project transforms various locations across Milan, including a news kiosk and bike stand, into vibrant, interactive displays that engage all senses.
Antonio Marras also joins the festivities with Ephemeral, a temporary store previewing his upcoming flagship. Located on Via Montenapoleone, this emotional retail concept presents visitors with abstract urban scenery, layered wardrobes, and a tribute to Renaissance courtyards, culminating in a modern homage to Versailles.
As the week progresses, other notable collaborations include MCM's pet-friendly furniture designed with Atelier Biagetti, Cova's exclusive outdoor aperitivo featuring sophisticated Negronis, and Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle's celebration of Portrait of a Lady through artful portraits and an interactive exhibit.
Milan Design Week concludes with a rich tapestry of creative expressions, leaving lasting impressions on both locals and international visitors alike. Through innovative installations, exclusive product launches, and collaborative efforts, the event solidifies Milan's status as a global leader in design and aesthetics.
