In September, it soared to the top spot on the influential Billboard Blues Album Chart. His previous release in 2014, "Medicine," co-produced by Anders Osborne for Concord International, won three Blues Music Awards. After this success, Benoit took a break from recording, entering a period of creativity and developing a newfound appreciation for his upcoming album.Benoit revealed that he had started some of the material for "I Hear Thunder" several years ago. One of the songs, "Little Queenie," was done with George Porter. In an interview with Rock & Blues Muse last August, he mentioned that the song was written at his fishing camp, which unfortunately was destroyed in a storm.
