Early Life and Career Beginnings

Wayne Northrop was born on April 12, 1947, in Sumner, Washington. He graduated with a BA in communications from the University of Washington. During his travels through Europe, he became fluent in German. After returning to the US, he enrolled in an acting class at Seattle Community College. Positive reviews from his class work led him to move to Hollywood in 1975 and join the newly formed Los Angeles Actors’ Theatre headed by Ralph Waite. Shortly after, he landed his first role in "Police Story".His role on "Days of Our Lives" was a significant part of his career. He played Roman Brady in two three-year stints, from 1981 to 1984 and again from 1991 to 1994, married to Dr. Marlena Evans played by Deidra Hall. Later, in 2005, he appeared as a different character, Dr. Alex North, amassing a total of 1,000 appearances on the show. He also starred in "Port Charles" on ABC and made several appearances on "Dynasty". Earlier in his career, he made guest appearances on shows like "The Waltons," "Baretta," and "Eight is Enough".

Personal Life and Family

Northrop married fellow soap star Lynn Herring in 1981. They shared two sons, Hank and Grady. For the past 35 years, they owned and operated a cattle ranch in Raymond, California. They remained true to their environmental beliefs and were involved in wildlife and conservation causes. They also purchased the oldest house in the city and converted it into a local museum for tourists, earning it a place on the registry of historical places.The actor is survived by his wife, sons, and stepmother, Janet Northrop. His life was filled with love and achievements, and he will be deeply missed.
