Following a highly controversial exhibition boxing fight earlier this year, Darren Till has now secured a place on a Misfits Boxing card. Months of calls for his inclusion finally bore fruit. The former UFC star made his boxing debut against fellow former MMA fighter Mohammad Mutie. The fight took an unexpected turn when Mutie was injured and unable to continue. However, even after the bout was called off, Till and Mutie continued to exchange blows. (Photo by Francois Nel/Getty Images) Darren Till Set to Take on Tommy Fury on Misfits Boxing Card
For months, Till had been calling out the likes of Jake Paul and KSI in the influencer boxing space. Finally, his opportunity came as he will face Tommy Fury on the Misfits&DAZN X Series 20 on January 18. 'TNT' Fury has already shared the ring with Jake Paul and was the first to defeat him. After that win, he fought KSI and emerged victorious by decision. Although Fury defeated Paul, Paul has had a more successful boxing career, recently beating Mike Tyson in a significant combat sports event. Till, who once had high hopes of following in his brother Tyson Fury's footsteps, realized the potential for success and money in fighting lower-level boxers. After his July boxing fight, Till said, "There are people I do really wanna fight, Tommy Fury… They’re all running, they are scared cowards, they don’t wanna fight me I promise you."Tommy Fury's Reaction to the Fight Announcement
The 25-year-old Fury hasn't fought since October last year due to a public break-up. Nevertheless, he is excited to return to the boxing ring and has been training with UFC interim champion Tom Aspinall. He said, "It feels great, to finally, say that I am back! I have been out of the ring far too long, I’ve been getting itchy knuckles, and so I am thrilled to be able to announce my return." With KSI co-owning Misfits Boxing and Till having called him out previously, the internet sensation released a quick statement. He said on X, "Glad to know that the p*ssy knows his place. Working for me."Till's Hopes and Plans
The former UFC welterweight title challenger still hopes to return to the premier MMA promotion. He outlined his plan to make money in the influencer boxing world before returning to the UFC to become a champion. In his final UFC outing, he took on the current middleweight champion, Dricus Du Plessis, and showed moments of success. His Misfits Boxing debut will take place on January 18 at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, England.
