The Housing Authority of the City of Dalton will assist in issuing revenue bonds to fund the acquisition and refurbishment of a 100-unit apartment building in the city. The Dalton City Council has voted to certify the Housing Authority to issue up to $11.5 million in revenue bonds for SP Mountain Woods of Tampa, Florida. This move will enable the company to acquire and refurbish the 100-unit apartment building located at 1000 Ponderosa Lane. The Housing Authority's involvement is purely administrative, as they will not have any ownership interest or liability in the property. Instead, they will facilitate the bond issuance process, allowing the company to access the necessary funds for the renovation project.

According to Housing Authority Executive Director David McKone, this type of arrangement is not uncommon. The Housing Authority has previously assisted with the Dawnville Meadows apartment complex in a similar manner several years ago. By leveraging the Housing Authority's ability to issue revenue bonds, property owners can secure the financing needed to upgrade and modernize aging apartment buildings, ensuring that Dalton's affordable housing stock remains in good condition.

The council voted to bar parking on the east side of Brookwood Drive, a decision made in response to concerns raised by the Public Works Department. The previous allowance of parking on both sides of the street was deemed a potential obstacle for emergency vehicles, making it difficult for them to enter and exit the street efficiently.
