Prescott's hamstring tendon partially tore off the bone during the Cowboys' November 3 game against the Atlanta Falcons. This led to him missing the rest of the game and subsequently undergoing surgery on November 13 to repair the tendon.
In the early stages of his recovery, the focus was on allowing the hamstring and bone attachment to heal. However, he has now begun the process of rehabilitating the area. As he said, "I've started some weight transfers and different core exercises. When I get to put down my crutches to do a workout is something I'm looking forward to next."
The upcoming offseason gives Prescott the opportunity to follow recovery benchmarks without the pressure of a hard timeline. With just five regular-season games left and a 4 percent chance of making the playoffs according to NFL Next Gen Stats, he can take his time to ensure a full recovery.
Prescott expects his recovery window to conclude before the 2025 offseason activities start. He emphasized, "Not necessarily rushing back. However, I do see myself entering this offseason [with] no restrictions. Not even it being discussed. Planning on by the time that comes, I'm full go, not even in the rehab mode and working to make myself a better quarterback for this team."
During the Thanksgiving game, Prescott watched from the coaches booth to avoid the risk of a collision. This was a concern that almost occurred when he was on the sideline for the Dallas' November 10 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Despite not being physically active on the field, he has remained engaged with the team. He stops by meetings to "keep the spirits and the vibes as positive as I can" and is in conversation with Cooper Rush and the other quarterbacks.
Prescott is actively reviewing film and thinking through his game strategies. He wants to be mentally prepared for next season while he waits for his physical recovery. As he said, "Taking a lot of notes. Missing the hell out of the game right now. [But] the rehab has started. Already starting to get those small goals and victories, from one day to another."
Looking ahead, he is excited about the future and the progress he has made in his recovery. Each day brings new opportunities and small victories, and he is determined to make a full comeback and be an even better quarterback for the team.
