Battling the Heat: Kenosha Montessori Seeks Donations to Tint Classroom Windows
At Kenosha Montessori School, large windows bring in an abundance of natural light, but this also creates an uncomfortable environment for students and teachers on sunny days. The school is seeking donations to tint the windows, providing relief from the sweltering temperatures that can reach over 85 degrees in the hallways.Unlocking a Cooler, More Focused Learning Environment
Stifling Temperatures Disrupt Learning
The classrooms at Kenosha Montessori School are often uncomfortably hot, especially on sunny days when the sun's rays pour in through the large windows. "You can feel it immediately when you walk in, it is stuffy and warm and hot," said teacher Carla Correa. The hallways can reach temperatures exceeding 85 degrees, making it a challenge for both students and teachers to focus on learning. "It's a very sweaty, drenchy day, so it can get hot," explained Shanna Delacy, another teacher at the school. "I just try to keep it comfortable for the kids so they won't feel hot and miserable."Seeking Relief Through Window Tinting
To combat the stifling heat, the teachers and staff at Kenosha Montessori School are hoping to raise funds to tint the windows. "Any help we can get is appreciated and the kids will love it," said Correa. "It will just help them learn better, stay focused in school and not have to worry about all the heat." The plan is to tint over 50 panels of windows, creating a barrier that will help regulate the temperature and provide a more comfortable learning environment. "It will just help them learn better, stay focused in school and not have to worry about all the heat," Correa added.Prioritizing Student Comfort and Learning
The teachers at Kenosha Montessori School understand the importance of creating a conducive learning environment for their students. "It gets even hotter when the sun shines on the west side of the building, shining directly towards the classrooms," Delacy noted. By tinting the windows, the school aims to alleviate the discomfort caused by the heat and allow students to focus on their studies without the distraction of excessive warmth. "It will just help them learn better, stay focused in school and not have to worry about all the heat," Correa said.Seeking Community Support
To make the window tinting project a reality, Kenosha Montessori School is turning to the community for support. By contributing to the school's GoFundMe account, individuals can help provide the necessary funds to improve the learning environment for the students. "Any help we can get is appreciated and the kids will love it," Correa emphasized. With the community's generosity, the school can ensure that its students are able to thrive in a comfortable, temperature-controlled setting, free from the burden of excessive heat.
