Embarking on the quest "A Healer's Mercy" in Phantom Blade Zero requires players to navigate the treacherous Crimson Forest to locate four missing thieves. This mission, initiated by Yu'er at the Thieves' Camp, demands keen exploration beyond the main pathways. Successfully finding these individuals and delivering Yu'er's remedies is crucial for their recovery and the completion of the quest, ultimately rewarding players with a valuable accessory.
The journey involves meticulous searching across various hidden corners of the Crimson Forest, from secluded caves to dungeon depths. Each thief presents a unique challenge in discovery, necessitating a strategic approach and careful attention to in-game clues. This guide offers a clear, step-by-step methodology to overcome these obstacles, ensuring all four wounded thieves are found, and the quest culminates in their return to safety.
Initiating the Quest and Locating the First Two Thieves
The quest "A Healer's Mercy" begins upon encountering Yu'er at her third location, the Thieves' Camp within the Crimson Forest, typically after defeating Jing Ye, The Outlaw. Yu'er entrusts you with medicine for four wounded thieves dispersed throughout the area. Your first task is to find Li, known as the "Flying Rat," who is conveniently situated in a cave west of the Outlaw Trap bell, easily identifiable by blue flowers. Following this, you'll search for Zhou, the "Lean Monkey." From the same Outlaw Trap bell, proceed through the nearby cave system to retrieve the Crimson Forest Tunnel Crank. Use this crank at the stone mechanism near the Outlaw Trap bell to open a hatch, leading you down a ladder and into a path where Zhou awaits.
To successfully start the "A Healer's Mercy" quest, players must first reach the Thieves' Camp in the Crimson Forest and engage with Yu'er. This meeting typically occurs after progressing through the game and defeating Jing Ye, The Outlaw, marking Yu'er's third known location. Once the quest is active, the initial focus shifts to locating Li, the "Flying Rat." This thief is found by teleporting to the Outlaw Trap bell and heading directly into the cave positioned to the west, where Li is hidden among blue flowers. Next, finding Zhou, the "Lean Monkey," requires a slightly more intricate approach. From the Outlaw Trap bell, adventurers must venture into a nearby cave to obtain the Crimson Forest Tunnel Crank. This crank is then used back at the Outlaw Trap bell's stone mechanism, which reveals a hidden hatch. Descending through this hatch and navigating a short path will lead players directly to Zhou, effectively completing the first half of the search for the wounded thieves.
Finding the Remaining Thieves and Completing the Mission
The hunt continues with Zhen, the "Slippery Eel." Starting from the Thieves' Camp, follow the main path northwest past the Red Serpent House and the Cliff of Longing to reach the Cliffside Lodge. Inside the lodge's basement, you'll discover the Thieves' Camp Dungeon Key on a corpse at the tunnel's entrance. Zhen is located just outside this tunnel. With the key in hand, return to the Thieves' Camp. The final thief, Gui, also known as the "Night Raven," is found in a dungeon on the southeast side of the camp, which the newly acquired key unlocks. After locating and assisting all four thieves, return to Yu'er to conclude "A Healer's Mercy" and receive the Calming Gourd accessory.
To progress with the quest, the next objective is to locate Zhen, the "Slippery Eel." This involves a journey from the Thieves' Camp, moving northwest along the primary route, bypassing notable landmarks such as the Red Serpent House and the Cliff of Longing, until the Cliffside Lodge is reached. Within the lodge's basement, players need to secure the Thieves' Camp Dungeon Key, which is found on a body situated at the beginning of a tunnel leading outdoors. Zhen himself is positioned just beyond the exit of this tunnel. Once Zhen is found and tended to, the next step is to teleport back to the Thieves' Camp. Utilizing the previously obtained Thieves' Camp Dungeon Key, players can access a dungeon located on the southeast side of the camp. Inside, Gui, referred to as the "Night Raven," will be found conveniently near the entrance. After successfully administering medicine to all four thieves—Li, Zhou, Zhen, and Gui—the final action is to return to Yu'er at the Thieves' Camp. This interaction marks the successful completion of "A Healer's Mercy," and players will be rewarded with the valuable Calming Gourd accessory, signifying their compassion and perseverance in helping the distressed.
