A unique gathering took place recently on Oak Ridge Ranch, just north of Laurel, where over forty individuals came together to celebrate local culture and agriculture. The event, creatively titled “Party in the Pasture,” was set amidst sprawling fields, offering attendees a chance to relax in nature while enjoying an evening filled with music, food, and camaraderie.

The heart of the celebration revolved around delightful offerings from the Pitchfork Restaurant's mobile food cart. Attendees indulged in freshly prepared dishes such as chili dogs and nachos, all crafted by ranch co-owner Missy Sharer-Pieters alongside her friends. Complementing these culinary delights was the soothing acoustic performance of Bon Jecci, whose melodies resonated harmoniously across the rustic setting. With their stage placed upon a vintage farm wagon, the duo captivated listeners who occasionally shared laughter or conversation with grazing cattle nearby.

This memorable occasion not only showcased the talents of local musicians but also highlighted the rich heritage of farming within this region. Missy Sharer-Pieters, renowned for her contributions both agriculturally and artistically, expressed gratitude towards the enthusiastic turnout and favorable weather conditions. Looking forward, she hinted at plans for another festive gathering during the early autumn months. Moreover, beyond hosting events, Sharer-Pieters continues inspiring others through various ventures including Messy Missy’s art studio and Pitchfork Primitive and Fodder Restaurant. Her innovative spirit serves as a testament that blending tradition with creativity can foster vibrant community experiences promoting positivity and connection among people.
