In the heart of South Dakota, a collaborative effort between Cornerstone Church and Feeding South Dakota aims to provide essential food assistance to those in need. On a chilly January evening, residents will have the opportunity to receive much-needed supplies through a drive-thru event designed to ensure safety and efficiency. This initiative highlights the community's commitment to supporting vulnerable families during challenging times.
On Monday, January 27th, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Cornerstone Church, situated at 1350 11th Street NE in Watertown, will host a Mobile Food Distribution event. Organizers anticipate distributing 400 boxes of food to local families facing food insecurity. Participants are encouraged to pre-register to guarantee their place in line and should enter from the south end of 11th Street, remaining in their vehicles throughout the process. Each vehicle may represent up to two households. Eligibility extends to South Dakota residents who meet specific income criteria, with an allowance for proxy pickups using forms available online.
This event underscores the importance of community collaboration and support systems in addressing food scarcity. It serves as a reminder that even in difficult times, collective efforts can make a significant difference in people's lives. By providing accessible and efficient food distribution, organizers hope to alleviate some of the burdens faced by local families, fostering a sense of unity and compassion within the community.
