The Colby College Men’s and Women’s Crew teams showcased impressive performances during a challenging regatta held at Lake Quinsigamond. Battling against strong opponents such as WPI, Wesleyan, Smith, and Hamilton under less-than-ideal weather conditions, the athletes demonstrated remarkable resilience and skill. The men competed for the prestigious Class of 2003 Cup while the women vied for the Jennifer McLaughlin Cup, both delivering commendable results.

Notably, all four male crews achieved significant victories by sweeping past their rivals from WPI and Hamilton. Among these standout performances was the Men’s Varsity Eight team, which secured second place with a time of 6:20.21, trailing only slightly behind the leading Cardinals. According to Head Coach Stew Stokes, this achievement reflects steady progress and highlights promising potential for further improvement. Meanwhile, on the women's side, despite being approximately ten seconds behind Smith, the youthful Varsity Eight crew displayed admirable determination and competitiveness.

As the season progresses, the Colby Crew teams continue to build momentum heading into their next competition scheduled for April 12th in Malden, Massachusetts, where they will face off against the Coast Guard Academy. These recent successes underscore not just athletic prowess but also the spirit of perseverance and teamwork that defines collegiate sportsmanship. With continued dedication and effort, there is much anticipation regarding what future races may hold for these talented athletes.
