A significant milestone has been reached as Chobani initiates the development of a state-of-the-art processing facility in Rome, New York. This endeavor is backed by an impressive $1.2 billion investment and aims to reshape the local economy. The construction site spans across 150 acres, previously occupied by the Griffiss Air Force Base, promising to transform this area into a vibrant hub for food production. With plans to offer over 1,000 permanent positions, the massive plant will cover 1.4 million square feet and serve as a catalyst for innovation within the dairy sector.

The new location boasts an annual production potential exceeding one billion pounds of dairy goods. Equipped with up to 28 advanced production lines, it can process around 12 million pounds of milk daily. Renowned primarily for its yogurt offerings, Chobani sources more than one billion pounds of raw milk annually from regional farms in New York State. Once fully operational, the facility anticipates purchasing approximately six billion pounds yearly, bolstering the state's agricultural backbone while fostering economic growth opportunities. Collaborations with local entities such as farmers, educational institutions, government officials, and community groups are envisioned to revitalize the region beyond the factory premises.

This expansion signifies not only a commitment to sustainable and innovative food production but also underscores the power of partnerships in driving regional prosperity. Founder and CEO Hamdi Ulukaya expressed pride in continuing Chobani's legacy in New York, highlighting the significance of collaboration with dedicated individuals throughout the state. Governor Kathy Hochul echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing how this landmark investment aligns with her vision of making New York the most supportive environment for workers and businesses nationwide. As Chobani embarks on this transformative journey, it sets a precedent for responsible corporate citizenship through job creation and economic empowerment.
