The renowned French perfume house, Cherigan, has recently introduced its latest creation at the prestigious Esxence perfumery fair in Milan. This new fragrance, named Shanghaï le Soir, draws inspiration from the iconic Art Deco architecture of Shanghai. The scent aims to pay homage to the golden age of Chinese cinema during the opulent Art Deco era, blending elements of sensuality and sophistication. Created by Maxime Exler at Mane’s Shanghai division, the fragrance features a harmonious mix of floral and woody notes, including rose, lychee, cedar, and white musks. It is set to be available starting April 2025, marking a significant milestone for the brand.

Founded in 1929, Cherigan has undergone a remarkable revival under the guidance of Luc Gabriel, owner of The Different Company. Gabriel took over the brand in 2016, when neither the Roaring Twenties nor Art Deco were widely popular trends, especially within the perfume industry. Despite this, Gabriel embarked on an ambitious project that spanned five years, meticulously crafting fragrances, selecting elegant bottles, and designing luxurious packaging. His vision was to create a brand that resonates with contemporary perfume enthusiasts who value authenticity, rich history, and eco-responsibility.

The development of Shanghaï le Soir reflects the brand's commitment to capturing the essence of a bygone era. The top notes of Pink Pepper Essence, Lychee Accord, and Blackcurrant Accord introduce a vibrant and fresh start. As the fragrance unfolds, the heart reveals Rose Litchi Essential Oil, Cedarwood Essential Oil, Orris Accord, and Violet Accord, adding depth and complexity. Finally, the dry down of Woody Musky Notes, Cashmere Woods Accord, and White Musks Accord provides a warm and lingering finish, evoking a sense of mystery and elegance.

Luc Gabriel's dedication to preserving the legacy of Cherigan while aligning it with modern consumer preferences has resulted in a product that bridges the past and present. Shanghaï le Soir not only embodies the timeless charm of Art Deco but also caters to today's desire for authentic, high-quality perfumes. With its anticipated release in April 2025, this fragrance promises to captivate those who appreciate the finer details of luxury and craftsmanship.
