Chautauqua Striders Award 2024 Daniel Feather Scholarships to Two Students

Nolah Hamilton and Donavin Brown, two remarkable young athletes, have been honored with the 2024 Daniel Feather Memorial 5K scholarships. These scholarships serve as a testament to their outstanding achievements and unwavering dedication in the realm of sports and community service.

Nolah Hamilton: A Trailblazer in Athletics and Academics

Nolah Hamilton, a graduating senior from Jamestown High School, has an impressive 97.8 unweighted GPA. Her passion for running dates back to the age of 5 when she first stepped onto the track. Throughout her high school years, she has actively participated in cross country, indoor, and outdoor track and field events. Nolah has not only qualified for sectionals in both track and field and cross country but has also made significant contributions to her team. She was a key member of the 4x800m relay in 2024, showcasing her exceptional teamwork and athletic prowess. In addition to her athletic achievements, Nolah is the co-president of JHS's National Honor Society and a member of the JHS Key Club. She also dedicated her summer to serving as a counselor at Chautauqua Striders' Youth Track & Field Development Program and volunteered her time at the 2024 Daniel Feather Memorial 5K. Nolah's post-graduation plans include attending college to pursue a degree in pre-law, where she aims to continue making a positive impact.

Donavin Brown: A Champion on and off the Track

Donavin Brown, a senior at Southwestern High School, holds a 97.8 GPA and has been involved in cross country and track and field for six years. During his time at Southwestern, his team has achieved remarkable success, becoming county and Section VI champions three times. Donavin's individual achievements are also noteworthy. In 2022, he placed third overall at the NYSPHAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 4x800m relay and holds the second-best time in school history in the 800m with a time of 1:57. In 2023, he was the first overall finisher in the Daniel Feather Memorial 5K, and in 2024, he secured the second-place position. He has also been a counselor at Chautauqua Striders' Youth Track & Field Development Program for the past two summers, sharing his knowledge and inspiring the younger athletes. After graduation, Donavin plans to attend a four-year college and pursue a career as a nurse practitioner, combining his love for sports with his desire to help others.
