Unlock Futures with Generous Scholarships at CCS
Board of Trustees' Perspective
Jim Nicholson, Chair of the Board of Trustees, emphasized the profound impact of philanthropy on the college community. He stated that every scholarship tells a story of hope and ambition. It is the responsibility of the college to invest in talented individuals who will shape the future of various industries. The contributions made by donors are not just financial support; they are lifelines that help students reach their full potential. This sentiment was echoed by the attendees who were reminded of the difference that philanthropy makes for students facing the challenges of college. Hearing firsthand how scholarships have transformed lives opened doors to education and brighter futures.Scholarship Recipients' Journeys
A senior scholarship recipient at CCS shared his remarkable journey. About four years ago, he didn't think he would have the opportunity to graduate from CCS. He had no idea how he would afford college, let alone a prestigious institution like this one. Now, on track to graduate in 2025, he expressed deep gratitude for the experiences his scholarship made possible. From studying abroad to gaining skills and mentors, his scholarship has "changed the trajectory" of his life. He hopes to one day support other students in the same way he has been supported.Another scholarship recipient recounted her journey to CCS. She remembered the excitement of her acceptance and the sense of relief when she received scholarship support. The Alumni Scholarship allowed her to focus on what truly mattered – making art. She expressed her eternal gratitude for the donors' choice to value their education, artmaking, and financial success as young adults.President's Insights
CCS President Don Tuski emphasized the vital role scholarships play in shaping students' futures. He witnessed firsthand the profound impact that scholarships have on students' lives. The support not only lightens their financial burden but empowers them to explore their full potential and push the boundaries of creativity. Today, they celebrate not just education but the transformative role that creativity plays in shaping the future.Inspiration behind the Scholarship
Tessa Semma Jarbo, whose sister Kacy Semma Hall graduated from CCS in 2006, shared the inspiration behind the scholarship that honors her sister's memory. Kacy's cancer diagnosis taught them that life is not guaranteed for anyone, and time is our most precious resource. In establishing the Kacy Semma Memorial Scholarship, she and her husband Johnny aimed to pay tribute to Kacy's "creative spirit and commitment to nurturing the next generation of artists and designers." They hope that the scholarship will not only provide resources but also inspire recipients to give back to the creative community, continuing the cycle of inspiration that Kacy started.Importance of Connection
CCS Director of Advancement Katie Rusak echoed the importance of connecting donors with the students they support. These moments of connection are what it's all about. The support provided by donors not only offers critical financial assistance but also inspires students to pursue their passions and dreams. They are here to recognize the profound impact scholarships have on students' lives, opening doors to opportunities that might otherwise remain closed. In closing, Rusak expressed heartfelt appreciation on behalf of the entire CCS community. Their belief in the mission and in the students makes all the difference. By empowering students to pursue their dreams without the burden of financial worry, they are forever grateful. For more information about establishing a scholarship or to learn more about the College for Creative Studies, please contact Katie Rusak at [email protected] or 313.664.7861.
