Carson City Empty Bowls: Fighting Food Insecurity

Dec 5, 2024 at 7:30 PM
Friday in Reno marks a significant occasion as the 10th annual Carson City Empty Bowls event takes place. This event holds a special place as it not only raises funds to combat food insecurity in our local community but also spreads awareness about the persistent issue. Organizer Liz Jordan joined us on Morning Break to shed light on how food insecurity can affect anyone, anywhere, and often goes unnoticed. On this Friday, individuals have the opportunity to purchase a ticket for $25. With this ticket, they will receive a handcrafted bowl and a delicious soup of their choice. Remarkably, over 20 vendors have crafted their own unique soup recipes for everyone to savor. For those who prefer not to purchase a bowl, there is a reduced-price ticket available for the meal. Alongside these offerings, there is an exciting auction, raffle prizes, and live entertainment. All the funds raised will directly go towards FISH, serving as a powerful reminder that in our own community, many people struggle to fill their bowls. The event will be held at the Carson Mall from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday. If you are interested in purchasing a ticket, click here.
