The annual oldies concert at the Buzzy Weber Pavilion in Clairton Park has become a cherished tradition, entering its seventh year. This event, held in conjunction with the Clairton American Legion Post 75 and the Clairton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 803, is more than just a musical celebration – it is a heartfelt tribute to the men and women who have served our country. The concert's proceeds will be used by these organizations to fund a variety of programs that provide critical aid and support to local veterans in need.A Lineup of Legendary Performers
The concert's lineup is a veritable who's who of iconic musical acts, each with their own unique story and contribution to the rich tapestry of American music. Headlining the event is Chuck Corby and the Soul Communicators, a seasoned performer who began his career at the tender age of 8 and has delighted audiences for over six decades. Corby has shared the stage with some of the greatest names in the doo-wop era, and his extensive repertoire is sure to captivate the crowd.Joining Corby on the bill are the beloved Pittsburgh Belairs, known for their signature vocal harmonies and renditions of doo-wop, oldies, and Motown favorites. Also taking the stage is the multi-talented Eddie Holman, best known for his chart-topping hit "Hey There Lonely Girl," but whose musical range spans rhythm and blues, soul, and gospel.Bringing the Tri-State Area's Finest to the Stage
Rounding out the impressive lineup is the Pure Gold Band, described as the "Tri-State Area's No. 1 Show and Dance Band." With their reputation for seamlessly blending soulful blues and contemporary hits, the Pure Gold Band is sure to get concertgoers on their feet and dancing the night away.The evening's entertainment will be capped off by the reunion of Sam Ferella and the Holidays, a group of Clairton teenagers who found national success in the 1950s before disbanding in 1962. The original concert was the brainchild of Magisterial District Justice Armand Martin Sr. and the leaders of the local veterans' organizations. Today, his son, Armand Martin Jr., continues to carry on his father's legacy, working alongside Clairton Mayor Richard Lattanzi, Joe Julian, Guy Benack, and local VFW Commander Scott Waugaman to ensure the success of this year's event.The concert's organizing committee is deeply grateful for the support of over 50 local businesses and individuals who have generously donated to make this event a success.
