For Carol Shafer, a longtime supporter of the event, Community Day holds a special place in her heart. Though she never lived in Burnettsville, her grandmother did, and the annual celebration was a cherished tradition that she looked forward to every year. "I would come and stay with her for the whole weekend, and that's something I looked forward to when I was growing up," Shafer reminisced.The event has become a touchstone for the community, a chance to reconnect with friends and neighbors and reflect on the shared experiences that bind them together. "Everybody looks forward to it. It's just a day where everybody gets together," Shafer said, underscoring the deep sense of community that permeates the festivities.A Celebration of Burnettsville's Vibrant Spirit

From a parade and car/tractor show to food and craft vendors, a raffle, and a house decorating contest, the festival has become a vibrant tapestry of community spirit.One of the highlights of the day is the annual fish fry, which has become a beloved tradition in its own right. This year, the event served a staggering 589 adults and 42 children, underscoring the community's enthusiasm for this culinary delight. "I always liked the fish fry, I mean, everybody likes the fish fry I think. And just getting to see some of the people that you don't talk to a lot that come too," Shafer shared.Honoring Community Achievements and Contributions

The parade, for instance, featured three winners, each representing a different aspect of the community: Salute to the Veterans, Uncle Sam, and Fountain Trust.
