A Mead School District student lost their life in a single-vehicle crash that led to the road closure. The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit investigators were promptly at the scene, confirming that the road was closed between West Rutter Parkway Lane and North Dorset Road. Commuters were left with no option but to turn around as there were no detour routes available.Deputies responded to a reported vehicle crash into a tree around 10:35 a.m. on Thursday. Inside the car, they found a man who unfortunately died on the spot. Initial information suggests that the car was traveling west on Rutter Parkway when it veered off the north side of the roadway and collided with a large tree.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the deceased along with the cause and manner of death at an appropriate time. This tragic event has left the Mead School District in mourning.
