This dinner theater event will take place over the last two weekends of October, offering audiences a delectable four-course meal alongside a captivating murder mystery.The production will feature a seven-member ensemble cast of Newman students, who will bring the suspenseful story to life. Audiences will not only be entertained by the unfolding mystery but also indulge in a culinary experience provided by Great Western Dining. Technical director Austin Schwartz promises that the evening will offer an extra layer of entertainment, as guests will be immersed in the narrative while savoring their meal."The big catch about this one is that it's a dinner theater, which means that audiences won't just be paying to watch a show. They'll also be paying for dinner," Schwartz said. "It's going to be funny, it's going to be thrilling, and it's going to be a mystery, as that's what it is."For those seeking a more budget-friendly option, Newman students will have the opportunity to attend a special preview performance on October 17th, which will not include the full dinner service.Escaping into the Pages: "Between the Lines"
Following the success of "Murder on the Menu," the theater department will present its second production of the season, "Between the Lines." This musical, which debuted off-Broadway in 2017, will make its Midwest premiere at Newman University.Directed by Deanne Zogleman and with Paul Graves as the music director, "Between the Lines" follows the story of a lonely teenager, Delilah, who finds solace in the fantasy world of a book, where she meets and falls in love with Prince Oliver.The production will feature a 10-member cast, with junior Alysha Keck portraying Delilah and senior Corbin Molina taking on the role of Prince Oliver. Schwartz expressed his excitement about the musical's debut, stating, "This show has never been done in the Midwest until we've done it, so that's very cool."The team behind "Between the Lines" is working hard to ensure the production is unique to Newman University.
