BBC to Broadcast Tennis Scotland Open Tour Finals Live

Tennis Scotland's season is set to reach its grand finale with a domestic version of the ATP Finals. This event will be live on BBC Scotland from the Scotstoun Community Indoor Tennis Centre in Glasgow. The men's and women's finals, along with one match from each event's semi-finals, will be broadcast on BBC iPlayer, the BBC Sport website, and app on Tuesday, 17 December. A total of 16 men and 16 women will compete over two days, with highlights shown from Monday's first round and quarter-finals.

Last Year's Winners

Last year, Hamish Stewart, a 25-year-old currently ranked 570 in the world, and 18-year-old Hannah Rylatt, who is number 290 in juniors, emerged as the champions. Their victories added to the excitement of the Tennis Scotland season.

Men's and Women's Rankings

Nicolas Rosenzweig, at the age of 38, leads the men's rankings with 19-year-old Cameron Fryer close behind. However, Stewart, who is third-placed, has played only four tournaments. In the women's rankings, 20-year-old Heather Barlow leads with 17-year-old Mia Wainwright in second place. Barlow has played 14 tournaments compared to Wainwright's four.

The competition among these players has been fierce, with seven different men and 11 different women winning domestic tournaments throughout the year.

Regular Season Highlights

This month's Scottish National Open Championships at the University of Stirling was a thrilling conclusion to the regular season. World number 316 James MacKinlay defeated fellow 24-year-old Ewen Lumsden (622) in the men's final. Meanwhile, 17-year-old world junior 83 Flora Johnson defeated Halle Pringle, five years her senior, in the women's final.

The competition at these events has been intense, with players pushing each other to their limits.

Semi-final Action and Doubles Titles

Semi-final action at the TS Open Tour Finals will kick off on 17 December at 09:30 GMT. Spectators can attend both competition days for free. Lumsden has already teamed up with former world number 44 Jonny O'Mara to claim the men's doubles title. Stirling-based Hephzibah Oluwadare and fellow leading junior Marelie Raath clinched the women's trophy.

The doubles action has added another dimension to the Tennis Scotland season.
