HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – There’s an investigation underway in the Myrtle Beach area after shots were fired at a person who broke into an SUV, according to an incident report.
Officers were called just before 3 a.m. Tuesday to Villena Drive where they met with the owner of an SUV that has been broken into.
The SUV owner told officers that he saw a man on his Ring camera testing out car door handles to see if they were unlocked.
The report states that his Chevrolet Suburban was unlocked and the burglar went through the car but didn’t take anything.
According to the report, the SUV owner followed the break-in suspect and found his car next to a dumpster along Villena Drive.
He told officers he got out of his car and that’s when the suspect vehicle started coming towards him and that’s when he fired two shots into the driver’s side window.
The SUV owner called 911, but he told officers he wasn’t sure if he had shot the other man.
Police called hospitals to see if there was a shooting victim that matched the description.
At this point, the break-in suspect hasn’t been found and no arrests have been made.
