"The Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank contacted us, asked our needs, and we told them, and they were right on it," said volunteer Tawanya Tyler, expressing gratitude for the swift response.Despite the overwhelming demand, the volunteers worked tirelessly to ensure that as many people as possible were served. "We have people that's in cars, multiple people in one car, we only giving out one box per car. So, for the next distribution we'll try to make sure we have enough," Tyler continued, acknowledging the need to expand the food supply for future distributions.

Rouses Supermarket Lends a Helping Hand

Just down the road, the local Rouses Supermarket was also playing a crucial role in the recovery efforts. The store was handing out fresh bags of ice and water to the community, recognizing the importance of providing basic necessities in the aftermath of the hurricane. "It's just what we do to give back to the community. You know, all our customers who give us patronage all throughout the year and just trying to give back," said store Director Tim Landry, highlighting the store's commitment to supporting its local community.
