An armored vehicle carrying currency overturned off the road in North Codorus Township on a Tuesday morning, yet fortunately resulted in no injuries. Emergency services received an alert around 7:31 AM on January 14, 2025, regarding a single-vehicle rollover incident on Green Valley Road near Buffalo Valley Road. Both occupants of the armored truck managed to exit the vehicle without assistance and reported no harm.

The monetary cargo remained secure within the vehicle, with only superficial damage noted to the windshield. To facilitate the recovery process, specialized equipment was required. Heavy-duty tow trucks, referred to as rotators, were summoned to the scene. Before these vehicles could commence their task, firefighters utilized chainsaws to clear tree branches that had been impacted by the overturned truck. A coordinated effort involving Mike’s Towing successfully executed the complex extraction process, which included rotating and lifting the vehicle while another tow truck pulled it from the front bumper.

Local authorities temporarily closed Green Valley Road between Cold Springs Road and Buffalo Valley Road during the removal operation but have since reopened the road. Multiple emergency response teams collaborated on this incident, including the North Codorus Township Fire Department, Jefferson Volunteer Fire Company, Porters Volunteer Fire Company, and WellSpan EMS. Northern York County Regional Police are conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash.

Despite the dramatic nature of the event, the swift and effective response of emergency personnel ensured the safety of all involved and prevented any loss or damage to the cargo. This incident underscores the importance of preparedness and coordination among emergency services, highlighting their crucial role in maintaining public safety even under challenging circumstances.
