The App State women’s track and field team is gearing up for their final indoor regular season competition at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. The event, known as the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational, will kick off on Friday afternoon with track events beginning at 1:40 p.m., followed by field events starting at 2 p.m. Saturday morning will see an early start for athletes, with field events commencing at 8:30 a.m. and track events following at 9:45 a.m. Fans can catch live coverage of the meet on ESPN+ during specified time slots on both days.

Recent successes have fueled the team's momentum heading into this invitational. During their last outing at Virginia Tech’s Doc Hale Invitational, the Mountaineers set a new school record in the distance medley relay (DMR). The quartet of Lauren Johnston, Jayla Adams, Addison Ollendick-Smith, and Jasmine Donohue achieved a remarkable time of 11:25.30, securing second place and earning a prestigious ranking within the NCAA. This performance surpassed the previous record that had stood since 1999. Beyond the DMR triumph, the team also celebrated numerous top-10 finishes across various events. Personal bests were recorded by several athletes, including Regan Hodge and Ella Battel in the women’s 1,000 meters, and Karsyn Kane in the women’s 3,000 meters.

The upcoming meet promises to be another showcase of the team’s prowess. Freshman Lilly Nichols continues to excel in pole vault, leading the Sun Belt Conference and holding a notable national ranking. Other standout performances come from Ava Studney and Noelle Meeker in pole vault, along with the reigning DMR team. The collective achievements highlight the dedication and skill of these athletes. As they prepare for the Sun Belt Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Alabama, later this month, the team embodies perseverance and excellence, inspiring others through their relentless pursuit of athletic achievement.
