Another Year, Another Video Game Ad Show

Each year, a video game advertisement show takes place, often awarding various titles. In this year's nominees for Game of the Year at The Game Adverts Awards, opinions abound within the industry. Many have likely already read the majority of the discussions. However, I decided to offer a unique perspective - that of a person with no prior experience in video games.

Uncover the Gaming World through a Novice's Eyes

Astro Bot

This is one of those charming Nintendo games targeted at kids. The little robot is quite endearing, reminding me of the girlfriend robot in a particular space-themed movie. I can't quite recall the name right now, but it was something like Maurey. It seems similar to that plumber game we all know. I wonder if the robot has any other tricks up its sleeve? Maybe a little dance would add some fun. I was told this was going to win an award? Is that the new standard now? Just copying that Luigi fellow?

It's interesting to see how these games are being recognized. The design and concept are unique, but do they truly stand out? Will it capture the hearts of both kids and adults alike? Only time will tell.

Balatro

At first glance, I thought this might be solitaire. But upon closer inspection, it doesn't seem to follow the traditional rules. Is it a new version of solitaire or perhaps poker? I'm quite confused. The rules seem all mixed up, and it's giving me a headache. I don't understand why they would give an award for this. It's not making any sense to me. And now, my dad has been playing it for 5 hours and refuses to give me back my Switch! What on earth is going on?

This game has definitely raised more questions than answers. I'm left wondering if it's truly worthy of the awards it's receiving or if there's more to it than meets the eye.

Black Myth: Wukong

At first, I thought this was going to be a Planet of the Apes game. But it's not Cesar. The monkey guy is cool-looking, but it seems like they took the easy way out. Just having a monkey walking around with a stick? That's not very exciting. I expected more from a game that's being nominated for awards. They should have gone all out and made a proper Planet of the Apes game. Now, he's hitting a giant guy with a stick, which is something at least. But still, I can't help but think they missed the mark.

The potential of this game is there, but it needs to deliver more to truly stand out among the competition. It's a bit of a disappointment so far.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

The person playing this seems to be having a tough time. They keep dying, which makes the game look quite depressing. It reminds me of that dark show with the guys and swords and all the incestuous stuff. Henry Cavill is in it too. I don't understand why people would choose to play a game where everyone is bad at it. Aren't gamers already bad at enough things? Hahaha. I hope we can move on quickly as the hockey game is about to start.

It's a shame that this game is giving such a negative impression. Maybe with more practice, it could become more enjoyable, but for now, it's not winning me over.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

What on earth am I looking at? This looks similar to the last game you showed me, just a bit brighter. Those swords are ridiculously big! It's not practical at all. Is this Zelda? That guy does look a bit like Zelda. Whoa! Now this is getting interesting. I like this game. It's clearly different from the others. Was this what you were doing all those years in high school? Playing games like this? It's amazing to see the level of detail and creativity. I hope it wins the award. Can you play as Zelda? What kind of outfits can she wear? And how does she fight those monsters? I'm eager to find out.

This game has the potential to be a real winner. It's got that special something that sets it apart. I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Metaphor: Refantazio

When I first saw this, I was worried it might be one of those hentai games. Oh my god, what is that thing? It's quite disturbing. But then, a message appeared - "Hello adventurer! Please collect five USD skins a month and head to our Patreon." It's a strange mix of elements. I'm not sure what to make of it. It's definitely not your typical video game.

This game seems to have a different approach and purpose. It's not your typical gaming experience. It's a bit of a mystery, and I'm curious to see where it goes.
